Hey all! Thank you for your patience and consideration during this long transfer of the website. We have a wonderful new look and feel of the website, and new social networking features.
First and most important: there is currently no integration between the website and forum, and so you'll have to login twice at current. This will hopefully be fixed ASAP and is the reason for the delay in the re-opening of the site.
The first feature I want to highlight is the feedback link in the top-right of all pages on the website (not the forum). This link will allow you to give feedback related to a particular page or feature in the site, so feel free to comment on those.
We've got loads of new social networking features. CometChat is once again back (and hopefully working again), and there are new Facebook-style statuses and site activity feed. There is also a new profile page that can list your skills, and anything else you wish to add to it!
You can also add friends to your account. Friends will have to accept your request, but once they do they'll be added to your profile page as being your friend. New features will be added to this friends list later on.
Regional Groups are out and we'll be expanding them both in functionality and numbers. More groups on the way!
There is a new Events and News pages. The front page banner will appear on the News page for logged in users, and the Events page has a better integration with the latest events box and the calendar.
Hope you enjoy the new features and hopefully we can continue to improve; this is just the start!!
Hey wow jarada.......wonderful looking new front page...the only problem is, I thought I had to make a 'new' password in order to log in because the front page wouldn't let me log in with my old one and so I did that for the main page and I have been accepted with a new password for that page.... but the forum wouldn't let me log in with my new password ...only my old one. Will that confuse things when the pages do get integrated?
Hey Pete.
If you want to make it more straightforward, if you go to your profile, on the new bit, then click on the "edit" tab, there is the facility to change your password ....... so you just have the one to worry about. (Though, on reflection, I'm not sure how straighforward that sounds.) :?

I have a few questions about the new website (I was thinking I'd need to ask these orally). But, hopefully, I can make my queries understood: :?
1) Heartbeat Activity Settings
Do these relate to the visibility (privacy) of my actions to other members? or my view of other member's actions?
I don't understand the first 2 settings at all. What the hell is a "node"?
2) Activists' Tool Kit
I managed to find this via a forum post I had made. I now see this is located at the bottom of the list of "Understandings".
When I first joined the site, "Take Action" was the first topic I was drawn to. Should the link to "Take Action" have its own link on the Homepage?
3) Regional Group Page
Is the "Broadcast" facility to email the whole Regional Group? or something else?
If it is the former?:
*Is that the old Regional Group List (which has been reformatted, but does not include newer members)?
*Or the newer members that have entered their region in the mandatory field?
*Or both of the above groups?
*Or the members that have joined the new "Facebook-style" pages?
Thank you.
EDIT: I have put a link to this post in the slither that is visible of "Feedback" in top right corner.
"Only after the last tree has been cut down. Only after the last river has been poisoned. Only after the last fish has been caught. Only then will you find that money cannot be eaten." Cree Prophecy.
And just a small point:
On the News Page, just below "Latest News" is the London photo from May 2010. It's a great photo, but might give a new member the impression that nothing has happened since May. Especially as much of the other information on that News page is dated 2009. All the stuff on that page is great, but it might need a different title. And there's loads of brilliant stuff on more recent UK venues on The World Tour. (Though it's just dawned on me that Dublin is not UK. )
But, otherwise I think the new site is marvellous!!!!!
Re the stuff in bold, in the previous post, I want to know the most efficient way (now we have the new site) to contact all those I need to, to advise them of:
The new website.
South West Engand Online Teamspeak Meeting on 28th Sept.
Next Bournemouth Meeting.
Thanks

I've never used facebook, or any other social network site as anything other then a guest to visit a link...
This is going to take some getting used to.
Also, for Opera it seems like some things are displaying right, but I'll just have to use a different browser for that.Actually I've just tried it with Firefox, are the links on the top of the user page meant to overlap like that?
Physorg.com - Science and Technology news.
I am not sure at present. If it does, you'll just need to standardise your password across the two accounts. I suggest you keep your website and forum login details the same until we have sorted out the forum integration.
1) Heartbeat Activity Settings
Do these relate to the visibility (privacy) of my actions to other members? or my view of other member's actions?
I don't understand the first 2 settings at all. What the hell is a "node"?
This does relate to the visibility of your actions to other members on the website, yes. Likewise everyone else can sort out the visibility of their actions in relation to everyone else, including you. Regarding 'nodes', these are anything that is created as content under the Advanced - Create Content menu option on the site (such as Events and Event Locations). This does need to be looked in to though as Heartbeat seems to be missing that info at present...
Indeed, perhaps we should put that as another menu option on the front page of the website. The thing is we only have five available slots for the main menu along the top, and in the previous site we overdid the menus along the side so people got confused as to where to go for certain things. We're trying to keep the menu's as simple as possible this time so it allows for easier navigation, so we'll have to be careful where we place such a link if we do so.
The broadcast facility allows for the emailing of all members listed in a regional group, on the regional group pages. This will not reach the old regional group list found on these forums, nor those who have entered a region into the mandatory field on these forums. The forums and the site are completely independent of each other (more so then before at current). I intend to transfer over all members from these old groups into the new groups in the future, and then remove the old regional group lists from these forums.
(Though it's just dawned on me that Dublin is not UK. )
Indeed, I think I might open up the news section to regional coordinators to allow for them to post news going on in their region for the rest of the world to see. These news stories could then also be added to regional group pages as appropriate, similar to the way events are now. What do people think?
Eventually, but not quite now. This new feature will be most effective when we've got everyone over to join the new regional groups.
No, this is a known bug, but wasn't a major functional issue during the re-development of the site and so was ignored. Will look into it once I've sorted the other issues we've got...
Glad you guys like the new site and stuff, but as you see there's still a lot more to come

Sorry. Me again. I left a message for TrulyFree, on Skype, and a couple of messages, on t'new website, for Jarada, but (just to make sure) I'll stick it here, too:
1) I've posted next Bournemouth Meeting on "events" in South West Group. But it doesn't appear on 21st October on UK Calender. Is there something I need to do?
2) South West England Online TeamSpeak Meetings are on the UK Calender, but not on South West Group Calender. Can I import these to SW Group? Does mod_john need to do it? The next Online SW Meeting is tomorrow (Tuesday 28th) night at 8pm.
3) I can't see City Organisers' Meetings on the UK Events Calender. Do I need to go to Specsavers? :?
4) In which field do I need to post to create one of those nice pop-out "Welcome to SW Group" whatsits? "Title"? "Descripton"? "Brief description"? Somewhere else?
EDIT: 4) Has now been answered on the new website. Thank you Myra.
I thank you.

I thank you. Glad that's been answered
Sorry for the delay, I've been quite busy this week.

Hey everyone! The forum has been integrated successfully.
Please check your My Account's edit tab to change your signature. We are going to be working on improving both the look and feel of the forum and groups over the next few weeks, and this will not incur further downtime.
The benefits to having the forums in the site are enormous, not only is it fully integrated into all the site's features (such as the status updates and the groups you are in now appearing on your forum posts), but we can place forum's in other areas too!
Please, as always, provide feedback!
Cheers.

Can't seem to post new messages in certain areas of the forum, including this part!
http://www.thezeitgeistmovementuk.com/forum/topic/2615
Seems to indicate its posted someplace, but cannot find it via the forums, where did it end up ?
Nanos, wondering what he did wrong, or if the system is not quite right.
Hi Jarada. I managed to put a "Welcome" (mission statement) message on South West Group, with no problems, but, when I tried to do the same for Bournemouth, I got "This content has been modified by another user, changes cannot be saved.", which doesn't seem to be based on any evidence??? Thank you.

The system was not quite right. It has been fixed.
If you posted something that didn't appear, can you send me a PM with the title of the topic you posted and the forum you tried to post the topic in, and I'll move it from it's current position of 'no forum'.
As for the mission statement, try checking that it hasn't already been posted. If it hasn't, try adding it again and you shouldn't get the message. It usually appears when you've hit the save button twice.
And finally, looks like the BBCode for quoting isn't quite working either

Sorry. I've noticed something else (and sorry if it's already being sorted):
If you click on the main group headings in the forum, e.g. SW, SE, Scotland etc:
http://www.thezeitgeistmovementuk.com/forum/forum/7596
...... it shows there are posts in "Introductions and Help" and "Meetings and Events", but none in "Regional Groups". Yet, clicking on any of the sub-headings reveals there are several threads and posts. I'm not sure if all the groups are like this. I know Scotland and South East are this way.
"Only after the last tree has been cut down. Only after the last river has been poisoned. Only after the last fish has been caught. Only then will you find that money cannot be eaten." Cree Prophecy.
"Disclaimer: the opinions and ideas presented on this forum are not representative of the Zeitgeist Movement UK"
Could the disclaimer be amended to "not NECESSARILY representative"? or something similar? Perhaps it's just me? But the current wording doesn't "sit right" with me. It almost makes me feel that someone is suggesting that "The Zeitgeist Movement UK" is some seperate, elite, dogmatic authority that holds THE only valid opinions/doctrine. Because it seems to me that many of the ideas/suggestions/proposals presented ARE representative of The Zeitgeist Movement UK. Is it not an emergent movement of all those in the UK Chapters?
EDIT:
Perhaps: "The ideas, opinions and proposals presented on this forum are those of individual users and do not necessarily represent those of the Zeitgeist Movement UK."

I agree with you Feral, in fact I'd go one step further and say who exactly is the zeitgeist movement uk if not those of us posting here?
