One of the biggest shopping centres in the country and also one of the easiest to get to for people in the South.
My intention is to make a banner which will make people think about the consuming they are about to do. What better place for people to realise while they are actually doing it.
Please post your ideas for a banner. I was thinking about somethign along the lines of:-
'Everything you buy you need'
'How long is it going to be before you are back here again buying the same things?'
'Born, work, consume, die'
Bluewater has more than 1,000 customers a day. That is alot of people who are obsessed with consumption who will see our sign.
I already have two friends on board maybe more when i ask around. Anyone interested? All are welcome.

I used to live near bluewater shopping centre ...and wow if you see those chalkpit lakes on a sunny day you can see why it's called bluewater.
It sure is a good place for a lot of people to see a banner.

I will post pics no problem. I also plan to film it with my new HD camera Will put it on youtube. So if you are there you get to be on a zeitgeist youtube video!
Anyone who reads this please tell everyone you know. I will go there perhaps this weekend or in the week next week and take some pictures of the area so we can strategise where the best places will be to put our banners. Will be much appreciated if anyone can bring dvds or leaflets, i will try and sort some out but i wont have many. Also work out what is private and what is public property so see where we can stand without getting asked to move.
Lets do something! Doing very little makes us loose members, and people are screaming to get involved. An event like this is easy and isnt time consuming and yet also should be effective.

If enough people are going it may be worth calling a few newspapers and tv-channels to let them know there will be "protesters" there that day - might get some coverage.
just been looking at the logistics of this event and i have come to realise it is not practical.
We cannot protest on private land as we will be arrested, and the only public land is on a dangerous road which i dont want to jepodise peoples safety by doing this. Unless anyone can find anywhere on goolge maps street view a viable area to stand in i am going to have to cancel this.
However i would like to move this to a different location.

That's a shame but this is a really good idea and so simple and easy, I was listening to one of Peter's old radio shows and apparently the Canadian chapter has had great success going out into the streets with simple banners / stalls handing out DVD's and Leaflets, I trying to do something like this in Swindon Town centre, I am currently trying to get in contact with the Borough council for permission to do so. I will keep you posted if I have any luck.
